Junior Training

What is our Art ?
Juniors practice a specially adapted brand of Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee’s Fighting Concept, the development of this martial art is through the academies core martial arts and instructors.
What do I train?
White belts begin with basic punches, kicks, blocks, break falls and rolls, then work to add more kickboxing skills as they progress. Later in the program, mixed martial arts are included. These include Muay Thai (Thai boxing), Western boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The last of the arts to be added is Kali, a Filipino weapons based art. As such, a level of student maturity is required, not necessarily in age but most definitely in martial art ability.
What is taught at Martial Arts Concepts?
Junior Students will study Kickboxing, western boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Kali and other arts. However a large focus for the academy is on promoting positive life skills. Junior students learn why respect for each other is so important very early in their training schedule. They will begin to appreciate humility and empathy as martial arts is not about how to hit other people, but how not too, and to think how others may feel. Students are also taught basic self protection skills centred on AWARENESS, AVOIDANCE AND ACTION.
Who should train?
Our Junior Curriculum is designed to help build healthy, confident and mature young people, capable of upholding the high standards of conduct the academy and their parents expect. If you want to learn these life skills, make new friends and more importantly have lots of fun doing it, then you can benefit from our Junior Program.
